PEAK Wind and BWSC Partner to Accelerate Power-to-X Projects with New Operations Services

31 Oct 2024

PEAK Wind and BWSC (Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor) have entered a strategic partnership to offer new Power-to-X operations expertise to the market. The partnership is a significant step in bringing large-scale green hydrogen plants into operation, combining expertise from the process and renewable energy sectors to create a best-in-class industry standard for the future.

The parties have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to offer asset and operations management of large-scale green hydrogen plants globally. This collaboration unites two industry leaders with deep expertise in renewable energy, energy storage, green hydrogen, and large-scale project management to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy.

The EU aims to develop ten million tonnes of annual renewable hydrogen production capacity locally by 2030, while global demand for clean hydrogen is expected to exceed 500 million tonnes per year by 2050. This presents significant potential for the partnership, as both parties have a global presence and are already managing operating portfolios in core regions for green hydrogen development, including Europe, Africa, and Latin America.

“With this partnership, clients can expect a comprehensive offering that combines PEAK Wind’s expertise in wind generation with BWSC’s experience in processing plants and green hydrogen,” said Michael Andersen, Founder and CEO of PEAK Wind. “By providing a single point of contact for the client, we can deliver cohesive strategy, planning, asset management, technological advisory, design, engineering and optimization for developers and investors globally. As a unique partnership in the industry, we will offer operations and asset management services for large-scale hybrid plants, and through our combined offering, work to reduce the levelized cost of green hydrogen.”

“BWSC, known for its expertise in energy project execution, service and plant operation, will contribute its technical knowledge and operational excellence. ‘Partnering with PEAK Wind is an exciting opportunity for us to expand further into the emerging Power-to-X sector. Our combined capabilities will allow us to develop and operate innovative, large-scale energy projects that deliver sustainable and reliable energy solutions,’ commented Dimitris Likouressis, CCO of BWSC.”

The collaboration will focus on developing a portfolio of Power-to-X projects across Europe, Latin America, and Africa, where the demand for green hydrogen and synthetic fuels is rapidly increasing. These projects will leverage the core expertise of each partner:
