The challenge
Aqualectra’s control system required modernization to enhance reliability, flexibility, and cybersecurity, while ensuring continuous operation, as any extended downtime would impact households, businesses, and essential services across Curaçao.

BWSC was selected for its long-standing partnership with Aqualectra and deep system expertise, ensuring a controlled, low-risk migration, with the new solution tested in Denmark prior to on-site implementation.
The execution
Before the full migration, BWSC tested each control module individually to ensure the plant could remain fully operational throughout the upgrade. Once all six modules were validated, the final migration was completed in just 9 overnight hours including a full network modernization with enhanced cybersecurity.
The results
The project was completed on time without disruption, delivering a modern, secure control system with enhanced monitoring and extended asset reliability.
