BWSC awarded Gold award in health and safety

We are thrilled to announce that our Speyside team has recently been awarded a prestigious global health and safety award.

Last month, BWSC had the privilege of attending the 68th RoSPA ceremony where we received the Gold Award in the Industry category. This award highlights our unwavering commitment to ensuring that our staff, clients and contractors get home safely at the end of each working day.

The The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Awards is the largest and most influential health and safety program in the world. With nearly 2,000 entries annually from over 50 countries, the awards cover safety standards across 32 sectors, providing a unique platform to recognize leaders dedicated to creating safer and healthier workplaces.

At BWSC, we place the highest value on safety, and this award is a testament to our continuous efforts in this vital area. We congratulate our UK team for their hard work and dedication that made this possible. We strive to keep promoting safety across all our sites, ensuring that safety is at the heart of everything we do.

Reducing environmental impact of Fynsværket

At BWSC, we strive to help plants reduce their environmental impact.

Currently, we have an ongoing project that is successfully doing just that. At Fynsværket plant, we are conducting the conversion from coal to gas fueling at their boiler no. 7, and we are very glad to report that all is progressing as planned.

This project was restarted early spring 2024, after more than one year suspension due to the volatile situation on gas supply. Thankfully, we are now able to resume this work, and the 12 old coal burners installed in 3 levels have already been dismounted. Installation of the new gas burners is now being carried out concurrently with the installation of new gas pipes and burner control units.

We expect the completion of the work to take place in late fall 2024, whereafter boiler no. 7 will operate on gas, reducing the environmental impact of the plant substantially.

Going the extra mile for you

At BWSC, we’re committed to going the extra mile to find solutions for our customers. Our extensive track record worldwide has allowed us to build a network of dedicated partners who we collaborate closely with, making it possible for us to successfully meet the needs of our clients.

Recently, a client in the Caribbean experienced an engine failure in one of their units, requiring urgent spare parts. Yet, the OEMs couldn’t deliver within the next 3 months, posing a significant challenge.

Leveraging our strong network, we reached out to another client in Europe with the same engine type. Fortunately, they had the needed parts in stock and were willing to lend them to our client in need.

The parts are now making their way to the Caribbean, and the client is expected to be up and running just within a couple of weeks instead of the projected 3 months.

This example highlights our dedication to finding solutions for our customers and the strength of our global partnerships. At BWSC, we always do what we can to ensure our clients’ success.

Successful inauguration of the Ribe Dispensary

We concluded last March on a high note with the successful inauguration of the Ribe Dispensary, commissioned by Rabai Power, and overseen by the two outgoing Board Directors of Rabai Power Limited (RPL) and Rabai Operation & Maintenance Limited (ROML).

This inauguration marks a significant milestone in the extensive and long running CSR program in Rabai, Kenya, that we have been a part of, centered around three fundamental pillars: Education, Health and Water.

The memorable ceremony commemorated the official handing over of the facility to the local stakeholders who have always valued Rabai Power’s continuous support of the community. It also stands as a gracious farewell gesture of the outgoing Board Directors.

We look forward to seeing the positive impact and achievements that will stem from this initiative, reflecting our ongoing dedication to social responsibility.

BWSC Annual Report 2023

In our just released 2023 financial report, we report a revenue of 1,3 billion DKK alongside a net profit of 66 million DKK. The substantial portion of our revenue is derived from renewable energy businesses, currently standing at 76%, up from 58% in 2022. This emphasizes our success in promoting sustainable energy solutions. Our commitment to sustainability has already yielded tangible results, as demonstrated by the successful delivery of two green hydrogen projects in 2023.

During the year we have been dedicated to enhancing the performance of the power plants we operate and maintain (O&M sites) through substantial investments. As a result, we have achieved the highest power production availability ever recorded across the power plants we operate and maintain. Investments herein have impacted negatively on our result for the year, while a strategic sale of shares has had a positive impact on the result.

While our cash flow from operations has shown improvement compared to the previous year, it remained negative in 2023. Efforts are continuing to improve this aspect further as part of the ongoing turnaround of BWSC.

Furthermore, our increased customer focus has led to significant improvements, with our Service order intake experiencing a remarkable 48% increase compared to 2022. This growth is attributed to both a higher volume of orders and the expansion of our customer base, reaffirming our dedication to operating as a dedicated Service provider catering to a diverse clientele rather than relying solely on large orders.
